Eat Healthy

Have you ever had trouble putting on a pair of pants or any shirt? Or was breathing hard for you after walking up a couple of stairs difficult? You can simply solve these everyday problems by having a healthy diet or just eating healthy.

Eat healthy foods like fruits or vegetables help a person to maintain good health. Ph.D Jeanne Segal says that people should eatbrighter, deeper colored fruits and vegetables because they contain higher concentrations of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.” She explains that eating colored fruits are healthier and give more nutritional value.

Healthier foods hold more fiber. Fiber is a form of mineral substance or tissue. Fibers are what keeps us full after a meal. The more fibers you have, you’ll eat less. So you’ll just have the feeling of being full for the day. You can also just watch what you eat. Try eating things with less sugar unlike soda or sweet desserts like cakes or candy. Cutting your sugar intake isn’t the only way to lose weight, you can also eat less carbs. Try eating more greens and proteins. These food groups will give you the right nutrition and minerals to help keep you in shape.
A drawback of eating healthy is that sometimes people think being healthy is to starve themselves. This isn’t the solution. If you starve yourself, you won't get the energy and nutrition you need in order to get through your day. Instead, simply just watch your diet and make sure to eat healthy choices like fruits and or vegetables over things like processed foods.
If you wanna make a change in your life, and if you want to make yourself a better person, then you can eat healthier so that you can lose weight. Also by eating healthier you can reduce the risk of getting diseases like Diabetes. If you do these things, you will see the benefits.

Why Kids Need Phones by Eva P.

Have you ever been bored? Or, have you ever been hanging with friends, but all they are doing is playing games or texting on their phones? I know I sure have been in situations similar to these. Additionally, kids need phones for safety reasons. Phones help when kids get bored, to communicate with friends, and to prepare kids for the future.  This is exactly why kids should have phones. 
According to Liz Perle from pbs.org, she says “I decided that it was a safety point for kids”(Perle). In fact, phones increase learning for kids. When kids get phones, they are able to contact family, people, and their parents if something happens.
Phones aren't only for safety, they are also good for doing homework. “In, fact, kids are able to access learning apps such as Blackboard, dictionaries, calculators, flash cards, and readings apps (Jessamyn).
Finally, kids can stay in contact with family members from far distances. For example, say your cousins, Gabbi and Shayla , live in Arizona and you live in Hawaii. You havn’t seen them in almost 5 years and wonder what’s up with them. Your parents are busy and don’t have time for you to call them. But, with your own phone, you can call them and talk.
Some people say that the idea of kids having phones is “ridiculous” because kids can be “irresponsible.” Well, I say that kids SHOULD have phones by middle school. Kids having phones is about safety, learning, communication, and life skills. This is because in the future people are going to develop new technology. It’s better for kids to learn now than later.

    Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you have a shortage of money?? Well, you're not alone!! In Fact, there is A way to change this!! A study from Harvard TH Chan states that, “if you eat healthier foods daily, you save about a $1.50 more a day!!” Also, eating healthier foods can reduce the chances of you getting sick. That's amazing!

   One Reason people should eat healthier is that you should listen to one of the Greats! JFK Once said, “Physical Fitness is not only one of the keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity"(John F. Kennedy).

   Another Reason people should eat healthy foods along with their unhealthy choices is because you need to balance out your diet. People should do this because you save money! A study from Harvard TH Chan states that “If you eat healthier foods daily, you save $1.50” (HarvardTHChan). That's insane. Not only does it save money, but it prevents you from getting  sick. All you have to do is balance out your diet!!

    Lastly, if you don't eath healthy you might get sick. If you eat way too much unhealthy food, then your stomach reacts funny and you might even throw up (Mercola). This is why you must balance out your diet with healthy foods.

    However, some people might say you can also throw up if you eat too much healthy food trying to balance it out. That is correct although you shouldn't be eating that much unhealthy foods (Hartley). Therefore, you should only eat limited amounts of both healthy and unhealthy foods.

    Overall, You should eat both healthy and unhealthy foods. Although it may give you stomach pains and aches, it will prevent you from getting sick. That is why you pace yourself in your diet. That is why eating healthy foods is the correct thing to do, for your health and your stomach!!

Why Kids Should Clean Their Rooms

Did you know that each time kids clean their rooms it can help them a lot with life skills, including having a great school education. This is because they will become more active from just cleaning their rooms. Also, this helps kids with the basic skills as they get older and eventually turn into parents.
Most people think that cleaning a kid's rooms is not useful or helpful to them. However, scientists that have studied this found that 67% of students that clean their own rooms will have more of a successful life when they grow up by taking care of family members, having a good entertaining job, and more. You may be wondering how will cleaning a kidʻs room affect them in such a positive way.
    Well, research says that cleaning a kid's room will make kids more active, help them to have a positive attitude, and will effect their grades in school too. It will effect them with their grades because scientists did a study and found that 82% of students had better grades than kids that didn't clean their rooms. Also, kids that don't clean their rooms will not be as active as others who do; that's what makes kids so lazy because cleaning rooms can be a very active thing for kids to do.
The last couple of reasons that kids should clean their rooms is that this can help them take care of not just school work but also their older kupuna. You may be wondering how? Well if you clean your room, it is like taking care of someone but it is just your room. So imagine that your room is your kupuna and you have to take care of it.
I know that you might be thinking that cleaning your room can be so boring and lame to do. You are right because I think it is too. But just remember that it can help you out a lot as you go through life. If you don't want to clean your room, then you will regret it for your whole entire life.

Shade just came home from a baseball game and was going to go play baseball in a few days. He still needed help learning to play baseball, so he played a videogame to practice. He didn’t know that when you play video games it teaches you muscle memory. So when he went to the game in real life, he hit a Grand Slam.
Who doesn’t like gaming. It can be an educational site and it can help you to learn muscle memory so that your brain can learn. A recent article states that if you play video games long enough, then the muscle memory will help your body learn what you were practicing.
Gaming doesn’t only have negative effects, it also has positive effects. In a recent test they had 50% of people play video games and 50% not play. They checked back with both groups in a few months. When they looked at the people, the study showed that the people that played video games brains had grown. SO when parents say your brain will turn to mush they are wrong.
“When you were young and your parents said it was bad that they were wrong” (author unknown). According to Allison Wignall she said, “Gaming can increase brain function, problem solving skills, spatial reasoning, memory, attention span, strategic planning and even social skills."
Some people argue that videogames are bad for people. Some say it is because people may get addicted but it is all about time limits. When kids are playing for too long and they are unsupervised they tend to play longer and then they may misbehave. So when you let a child go on an electronic device make sure you put a time limit. If you don’t you will find the consequences.
If people don’t play video games they may have a hard time practicing over and over. They may also miss out on the chance to have fun and learn. People who do not game, miss out on an easy opportunity to learn. What are people waiting for? Hurry up and ask your parents to help you electronically learn.

Eva has a birthday party on Friday and she can’t find her clothes because her room is not organized. She doesn’t know where anything is and she gets frustrated because she doesn't have the time to find what she needs. If Eva had an organized closet, it would help her to be normal, happy, and on schedule.  
Can you believe that an organized closet helps keep people normal? Research shows that if your kid has ADD then their room should be straightened out (Quinn). This means that the kid must be organized or they will go crazy! They will not be the same person. Who wants that? Therefore, if you keep your closet organized you will stay normal.
An organized closet will help keep family members happy! According to 4 Ways to Help Teens with Organization, “to avoid constant battles, explain to your teen why organization is important and what you expect.” This means that if you both understand the expectations of organization then it will help keep teens organized and everybody happy.
Organized closets also help you with your schedule. A woman from Shape magazine states, “At the end of the day, being organized is about having more time for yourself, and enabling you to live a more balanced life (How Cleaning and Organizing Can Improve Your Physical and Mental Health”)”. You will benefit by constantly knowing where everything is and not be scattered all over the place. Therefore, you will end up having enough time to do the things you want.  
Some people might argue that being organized takes up too much time. But, actually it saves time. For example, if Eva was organized in the first place she wouldn’t have gotten frustrated and wouldn’t have wasted her time finding what she needed.
Being organized will help you to avoid life’s problems because it will keep you sane, happy and on track with time. Clearly organization is a life goal that will benefit you. If your closet is a mess than take a chance on being organized.

“Students learn in a way they are comfortable” (University of Washington Learning Technologies). Learning on Smartphones is good for students. According to “Smartphones as Learning Tools” when students use their phones in class for learning, they feel more comfortable with the way they are learning. This can help with overall learning as well because when students are comfortable with their learning techniques, they are more confident in their abilities. Cellphones can also be useful for downloading educational apps that can be used in class.

Smartphones can be useful learning tools in classroom environments (Giambalvo). They can be used for things like quick searches, contacting people, and getting contact information. They can also be used for downloading educational apps like Dropbox, Classdojo, Flashcards, and many more. These apps help students engage in learning both at home and at school. This is because if students download these apps onto their Smartphones, they will most likely later become interested in the apps and use them for learning at home and school.

Smartphones also help get students more interested in what they are learning. Learning on Smartphones would be a large step for many students, considering that many of them are already quite familiar with that type of technology (Schaefer). Smartphones being used at school also opens up completely new opportunities for students at home. If they have educational apps or websites that are on their Smartphones, it is likely that they will later become interested in the things they are learning and try it out on their own. In one of these cases, this could be an excellent opportunity for students and teachers (Giambalvo).

Students can explore their options in a way that they like. For example, when students look at college options, it can be boring for them. By using smartphones in class, students will be more interested in what they are looking for or doing, because they enjoy using their phones. They can also help to intrigue students when they are doing searches or studying something, because technology is much more fun than textbooks.

Some people say that smartphones will distract the students, but if teachers monitor the students properly, and the students follow the given directions, they could greatly benefit from learning with Smartphones. Besides, this would be a privilege for students, which could be easily taken away if misused. If people don't let students learn using Smartphones, they could lose a great opportunity for the people of the future.
