Pets: The Solution for a Better Life
by Irish G

Stewart had another terrible day at school. He got another F, his third for the trimester. Also, he had been fighting a bad cold for about a week. Because of this, Stewart is really depressed. He tries to think of ways to solve these problems. Then, for his birthday, he gets a dog. Stewart is now really happy. The next week of school, he gets perfect scores for three tests, all of which he had an F in those classes. Stewart also enjoys that he doesn’t feel sick anymore. But, he is wondering something: Why is he so much more stress-free, getting good grades, not feeling sick anymore so quickly? Stewart then realizes he’s been having a better life ever since he got a dog. It turns out this is true. Kids are more stress-free, a lot more responsible and have a smaller chance of getting sick if they own a pet.

It is very hard to deal with stress, no doubt about it. It is especially hard if you are a child and you have stress. There are many ways to overcome stress like doing yoga. In my opinion, the best way to manage stress is to have a pet and play with the pet. You can tell them things without any consequences (Gross). You can also get some exercise if you walk the dog, which is another positive fact about owning a pet. If you don’t get a pet, you sometimes can’t take the stress and that might impact relationships and grades.

For some kids, it is really hard to get good or even average grades. At times, kids don’t have an influence to help them with school. This results in kids having bad grades. A good idea to overcome this problem is to get a pet. This is a good idea because taking care of a pet can teach kids responsibility (Houston). This means that kids will be putting more effort into their work as well as learning to help others.

Some people can argue with the idea of kids owning pets for two reasons. One of the reasons is that kids might not be ready to own a pet (Strickland). People say that kids won't want to do some of the stuff that you have to do to take care of the dog. Some examples are that kids might have to clean up their waste and bathe or wash their pet. But, if the kid does their responsibility, they will become more responsible than being irresponsible. Also, people might bring up an argument that pets might be too dangerous. They say this because a pet might bite or give a disease that impacts the child. However, the facts disagree with this claim because as long as the kid has some type of bond with the pet, they probably won’t do these kinds of bad things. Also, you will probably first get some type of wash or medicine to keep yourself clean from the pet.

If kids don’t have pets, they might miss out on a great opportunity to have a better life. Also, they might have huge problems, such as anger issues. Therefore, parents should get their kids a pet so they don’t have to deal with these issues.
